Blessings in a Backpack (CHIPP)
The Twenty Pearls Foundation launched the Blessings in a Backpack program in November 2011. In 2022, the current administration renamed it CHIPP (Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack).
This program provides supplemental food items to 75 families across eight elementary schools in East Point and College Park, GA, on the third weekend of each month. Each family receives a backpack filled with nutritious, non-perishable food options, emphasizing lower sugar content and more natural fruit juices.
The Target Goal is: $7,200.
Snack Pantry
The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc. established a snack pantry at Woodland Middle School in March 2017 to provide supplemental snacks for students participating in after-school programs, during testing, and for those arriving late due to bus delays after breakfast service has ended.
Each school pantry is stocked with a variety of food items, including cereal bars, juice boxes, veggie snacks, Rice Krispies treats, and assorted snack packs. These supplies are replenished monthly throughout the school year.
In April 2018, the Foundation expanded the initiative by adding a second snack pantry at Hamilton E. Holmes Elementary School, followed by the addition of Paul D. West Middle School in the summer of 2023.
As of 2025, the Twenty Pearls Foundation funds a total of nine snack pantries, serving both elementary and middle schools in the College Park and East Point areas.
The target goal is $6,000.
P.A.C.E. College Tour
High school students in the P.A.C.E. program are taken on an annual college tour to allow students to experience college life first hand. Students traveling on the tours get a taste of college life and also receive curriculum information, entrance requirements, financial aid and scholarship resources. The tours provide the students with the opportunity to speak directly with college admission officials and current college students.
Transportation can be provided along with lodging and meals.
The average cost of the tour is $3000.00 per student
Youth Leadership Institute
The AKAdettes program impacts the lives of girls in grades 5 through 8 by providing leadership development, civic engagement, enhanced academic preparation and character building. The growing demands of the 21st century require our youth to become strong leaders at a younger age. By making smart choices, they can achieve positive outcomes.
The program currently hosts 25 young ladies at New Life Presbyterian Church in College Park, GA. The program provides activities, a healthy lunch and care packages for the young ladies (toiletries, school supplies and small gifts for academic accomplishments).
The annual cost for the program is $7,000.
